If you have finished with calming and other questions, then go to read about how to start the exam?

HOW DO YOU USE THE EXAM BREATH IN EXAMS?

Whilst you are waiting outside the exam hall, go to one side and try the breathing. DO NOT WORRY if you feel agitated.

When you go in the exam room, the examiner is usually doing stuff. Sit quietly and do Exam Breaths while you are waiting.

Now you can start the exam.

HOW DO YOU USE THE EXAM BREATH IN TESTS?

Recently I saw two students pray before they started a test. I liked it and wished I had been sharper to encourage it when I was teaching.

Now if I started a test I would insist on silence for two minutes. I would teach the exam breath and then if the students chose to do it they could - Exam Breath or praying.

If not 2 minutes silence before a test always helps.

When should we practice the Exam Breath?

Best time is first thing in the morning - that is when the mind is fresh.

Another good time is before you go to bed especially if you have been studying. Calm breathing relaxes the mind, and you can then sleep well.

How long should we practice the Exam Breath?

To start with, take 5 minutes but try to build up to around 15 or 20 minutes. Do not force it. If after ten minutes then it is not comfortable, then 10 minutes is OK.

Are there other calming techniques?

Yes there are. Here are two but they are not suitable for exams.
